A BUS driver and his passengers sustained minor injuries after the vehicle in which they were travelling hit a cow on the Omuthiya-Oshivelo B1 road, 20 km from Omuthiya to Oshivelo at Omutsegonime village.
Oshikoto Regional Commander Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku said the incident occurred around 11:00 on Thursday.
“It is alleged that the Toyota Quantum, white in colour with Walvis Bay registration, was travelling from Onayena to Walvis Bay with 15 passengers, and at Omutsegonime, the bus then bumped into a cow crossing the road, lost control, and further bumped into a tree,” she said.
She added that only minor injuries were sustained by the passengers, and they were all attended to by Omuthiya District Hospital paramedics and the police.
Kalompo-Nashikaku indicated that the bus sustained multiple front damages, and the cow died on the spot.
She added that the driver, a 52-year-old man, has a valid driver’s license.
