The Namibian Stock Exchange, now known as Namibia Securities Exchange last week unveiled its rebranded corporate logo and concurrently awarded the Namibian Scholars’ Investment Challenge (NSIC) winners.
The NSIC was created as a way to introduce university and secondary school students to share investments and to provide them with knowledge on broader aspects of capital market operations, to give them an understanding of commercial dynamics and the macroeconomic environment through a fun and far-reaching educational programme.
Each participating team was credited with a fictitious amount of N$500,000 to be used for buying shares.
From the 187 teams that took part this year, the Big III from UNAM clinched the first prize of N$30,000 with a return on investment of close to 40%. UNAM’s Crowd Fund came in second taking the N$20,000 prize.
Warren and Munger Brigade from UNAM, came in third winning the N$15,000 prize while Trading Titans from C. //Oaseb Senior Secondary School and Euphoric2024@ from UNAM followed in fourth and fifth, winning the N$10,000 and N$5,000 prize respectively.
