THE MTC-Kilimanjaro Boxing Club is set to host its annual “Young Shall Grow” amateur boxing bonanza for the first time at KK Park in Okongo on July 1, 2023.
Joseph Benhard, the founder and chairperson of the club, said that the purpose of the boxing bonanza is to promote boxing at the grassroots level. They aim to showcase boxing in the remote areas of the northern part of the country.
Benhard mentioned that they have invited other boxing clubs from the Oshana, Ohangwena, and Oshikoto regions to participate in the event.
“We have ten bouts scheduled for the evening and have selected the best amateur boxers,” he said.
He also mentioned that the program will be implemented in all the regions, with Ohangwena being the first region selected to host this exciting boxing bonanza.
Furthermore, Benhard expressed the intention to introduce boxing to schools, allowing interested learners to have the opportunity to practice and participate in boxing programs.
He urged all boxing fans to show their support by attending the event in large numbers. He also announced that a fundraising event will be held on June 31, 2023.
Children will be charged a fee of N$10, while adults will be charged N$20 at the gate.
