A CASE of child neglect is being investigated by police in the Otjozondjupa Region after a newborn baby boy was discovered in a riverbed.
The discovery was made around 16:00 in the riverbed near the railway line in Grootfontein.
It is alleged that members of the public, while passing through the riverbed, discovered a crying baby boy, believed to be 3–4 days old.
The police indicated that the baby was taken to the state hospital for a check-up, and he is currently in the care of nurses in a stable condition.
Footprints and a small white blanket were observed at the scene.
