KATIMA MULILO, July 10 — A group of volunteers from Airdrie, Scotland, have travelled to Namibia to donate sports kits to school children in need. The volunteers, who are members of the West End Bar KitAid group, spent two weeks in Namibia delivering 800 pieces of sports equipment to schools in the Zambezi region.
The equipment, which was donated by clubs, businesses, and individuals from across Scotland, included soccer balls, jerseys, nets, and other sports gear. The volunteers also spent time playing sports with the children and helping them to learn new skills.
“It was an amazing experience,” said volunteer John Smith. “The children were so excited to receive the sports kit, and they really enjoyed playing with us. We were all touched by their enthusiasm and their love of the sport.”
The volunteers’ trip was organized by KitAid, a charity that works to provide sports equipment to children in developing countries. KitAid believes that sports can play an important role in helping children to develop physically, mentally, and socially.
“We are delighted that the volunteers from Airdrie were able to bring so much joy to the children in Namibia,” said KitAid CEO David Craig. “Sports can be a powerful force for good in the world, and we are proud to be working with people who are passionate about using sport to make a difference.”
The volunteers’ trip to Namibia is just one example of the many ways that people are working to help children in need around the world.
