Acting Chief of City Police spent Sunday on community engagement

CHIEF Leevi Ileka, the acting head of the Windhoek Municipal Police Services (City Police), dedicated his Sunday afternoon to engaging with Windhoek residents on crime-related issues affecting the community.

Ileka and his colleagues attended a community gathering organized by the Khomasdal Constituency office to discuss residents’ safety. During the meeting, the Acting head of the city police addressed crucial matters related to community-police partnership.


He emphasized the importance of sharing crime-related information with the police, highlighting that effective communication between authorities and communities plays a vital role in preventing and addressing criminal activity within the community.

Among other topics, Ileka discussed illegal land grabbing and gender-based violence, urging men to speak out against domestic abuse, which can sometimes be perpetrated against them.

In his closing remarks, Ileka urged the community to refrain from employing children for begging on the streets and encouraged them to report any crime-related behaviour to the nearest police station.
