Otjiwarongo, 14 August – Deputy Minister of Information, Emma Theofelus, delivered a heartfelt plea for the unity and preservation of Namibia’s national identity. Speaking to a gathering of around 500 individuals during the launch of the National Symbols Campaign in the Zambezi Region, Theofelus emphasized the significance of embracing Namibia’s unique heritage.
In her address, Theofelus urged Namibians to uphold the principles of unity, respect, and inclusivity. She called on citizens to actively keep the national identity alive as a means of fostering unity within the diverse country. The National Symbols Campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting awareness of Namibia’s national symbols and their significance, plays a pivotal role in this effort.
The event also featured Zambezi Regional Governor Lawrence Sampofu, who echoed Theofelus’s sentiments. Sampofu stressed the importance of national pride and dedication in serving the country, drawing on the memory of the struggles that led to Namibia’s independence. He encouraged Namibians to serve their nation with pride, embodying the love and commitment that drove the fight for liberation.
