AFTER a successful edition of ‘Tea Party 4 Hope’ last year, organisers say this year’s edition is scheduled to take place on 21 October at Olympia at the Doc Jubber Hockey Fields.
Elevate Edify Life Coaching are the organisers of this annual cancer fundraising event.
Founder Violetta Mureko says since its inception in 2016, the event has generated over N$75 000 and extended support to over 2 800 financially disadvantaged Namibians by offering priceless free cancer screenings through a strong partnership with the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN).
The event always offers lots of entertainment.
“Embodying the vision of uplifting those impacted by cancer, it actively engages in enlightening the community on cancer prevention and awareness, as well as illuminating the path of hope for survivors and their families,” Mureko says.
She said the goal of this year’s event, under the theme ‘Closing the Cancer Gap’, is to create a strong platform for cancer education and the promotion of positive change that resonates throughout society.
Together, we see a better future, committed to eliminating cancer-related inequities and establishing a strong community of healing, she says.
This year’s event hopes to draw close to 400 people from all over the nation.
Namibian entertainers, including Lioness, Ethnix, and Dance Sport Namib, will perform at the event.
Organisers Elevate Edify Life Coaching is committed to transforming lives via mindfulness, life balance, and significant initiatives like Tea Party for Hope, they say.
Mureko holds a certificate in life coaching from LifeXchange in South Africa.
She has obtained a bachelor’s degree of commerce from the University of the Western Cape, as well as a post-graduate diploma in management practices from the University of Cape Town.
Mureko also holds a transformational leadership certificate from the African Leadership Institute (ALI).
“Through the ‘Tea Party 4 Hope’ and our other initiatives, we strive to create a positive impact in the lives of Namibians, contribute to the fight against cancer, and most importantly, develop long-lasting relationships,” she says.
“As we set our sights on the upcoming event, we humbly extend an earnest invitation for the public to join hands with us as an esteemed partner.”
Dr Latoya Mwoombola, better knnown as ‘Lioness’, an internationally renowned award-winning rapper and physician, will deliver speeches during the event.
The organisers say she will discuss her mother’s death from cancer.
Saima Nambinga, the chairman of CAN, will provide further information about cancer in Namibia.
Finance manager Tuuliky Amwele will be one of the other speakers.
Amwele will share her story of hope as a breast cancer survivor.
