The police in Katima Mulilo have yet again retrieved more stolen goods, including fuel intended for neighbouring Zambia.

The suspects were ambushed after buying multiple litres of gasoline in restricted containers before attempting to cross into Zambia through an ungazzetted entry point.

“They searched the car, and this is what they got; when they opened it, they found that there was petrol in it, so even our service station owners are  warned because these containers are not allowed when it comes to the petrol act; it must be a jerry can, not this one because it can easily catch fire; anything can happen.”

Chief Inspector Mayumbelo says the suspect has been handed over to the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA).

A freezer, mattress, and blankets were also recovered during a night patrol by members of the Men and Women Network.

” We found a dugout canoe that we suspected belonged to thieves; we decided to ambush them by waiting, which did not take long; they found us there; we lit torches upon seeing them approaching; they were carrying items that they immediately dropped on the ground before fleeing; we immediately alerted the police, who came to collect said items.”

The owner of the recovered items pleaded with the authorities on the other side of the border to be observant of their citizens illegal activities.

The Men and Women Network appealed for assistance, including proper shoes, uniforms, teargas, and airtime for their operation.
