The relatives of a nine-year-old boy who was sent to fetch water from a nearby dam but failed to return home found his body in the waterhole.
The drowning incident occurred in the Onyelelo village near Ondangwa on Tuesday evening.
According to the police, the deceased, who was identified as Eliaser Nantinda, left home to fetch water at around 18:00 but failed to return and anxious relatives went to investigate. They found the boy’s clothes near the earth dam while the empty container was floating on the water.
His body was later retrieved by police divers and taken to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
