THE Ohangwena Regional Council has unveiled plans to construct a new Eenhana Constituency office in the upcoming financial year.
This decision comes in response to a widely circulated video revealing the dilapidated state of the current Constituency office, which has suffered from vandalism and structural deterioration.
Informanté recently conducted a visit to the office situated in Onambutu village, finding the gates locked. However, a hole in the fence behind the building, apparently caused by vandals, allowed access.
This situation has led the constituency councillor and staff to work from an office at the Onambutu Community Hall since 2016.
Ohangwena Chief Regional Officer Fillipus Shilongo said that the regional council is planning to allocate a budget for the reconstruction of the office in the 2024/25 financial year. This step aims to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of government services.
Shilongo said that all government materials and assets have already been relocated from the deteriorating building to the Onambutu Community Hall, where operations have been ongoing.
“The security officials were also relocated from the old building to the new site,” he added.
As a result, security guards have been stationed at both locations to prevent further acts of vandalism.
