THIS year’s Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) is expected to surpass all previous records, not only in terms of the number of exhibitors but also in the count of visitors flocking to the nine-day event.
The event spokesperson, Jackson Muma, mentioned that while the exact number of visitors during the first three days will only be available on Monday, his observations so far indicate that the number of visitors this year will far surpass the 90,000 recorded three years ago.
The significant number of visitors during today’s official opening ceremony clearly exceeded all expectations. Many people chose to forgo church services in favour of attending the Expo when entrance was free of charge.
Entrance was complimentary during the morning period to enable more people to participate in the opening ceremony.
The regular entrance fee is N$25 per adult, N$15 per child, and N$15 per vehicle. Verna Sinimbo, Deputy Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, was the keynote speaker.
