A 28-year-old man is reported to have killed his two-year-old son by smashing his head twice against a concrete pillar.

According to the weekend crime report issued on Sunday by the Namibia Police Force Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the incident happened last week Friday at around 09h30 at Otavi in the Otjozondupa region.

She said the suspect who was the biological to the victim forcefully grabbed the toddler from the mother’s arms and took him along to the railway line where he allegedly hit the deceased head twice against a concrete pole. He then thereafter threw the deceased body away and ran away.

The deceased who is identified as Jason Muronga, was taken to Otavi State Clinic by the witness for treatment due to serious head injuries sustained. He was later referred to Otjiwarongo State Hospital where he was admitted but later succumbed to his injuries.

The man was arrested and he is expected to make his first court appearance this week. The deceased next of kin were informed and Police investigation continues.

In a separate incident, on the same day in the same district, Festus Oxurub aged 63 was found lying next to the road after he walked for approximately 25 kilometres from farm Hohental to farm Renters while trying to visit his family at farm Renters.

It was reported the elderly man was then later found by farm workers who also happened to be his family at farm Renters lying next to the road and he appeared very tired and sick. He however succumbed while on the way to the hospital.

The police also reported that a 19-year-old Namibian girl was on Friday arrested after she was found in possession of a python skin after a police operation at the Ombili location at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region.

She is expected to appear in Otjiwarongo Magistrate court this week and Police investigations continue.
