Youth foundation takes hands with Mboma to support girls

The Rob Youth Foundation last week signed an agreement that will see the 200-metre Tokyo 2020 Olympics silver medallist Christine Mboma donate 10% of the proceeds of the Mboma Street Wear collection to the foundation in support of Namibian girls.

The support wil be facilitated by the countrywide sanitary pad drive the organisation has initiated.

The founder of the Rob Youth Foundation, Robert Maseka, says it is an honour for the organisation to collaborate with Mboma.

“I spoke to Mboma about the initiative, and she was excited to assist where she could. We are looking forward to this partnership, and have discussed more future partnerships,” he says.

Mboma says she believes in empowering and supporting Namibian girls, recognising that access to sanitary products is a fundamental right and a crucial factor in maintaining girls’ dignity, health, and education.

“We hope our contribution would help make a difference and lead to better opportunities for Namibian girls,” she says.

The Rob Youth Foundation aims to raise funds through its national sanitary pad drive, which is expected to continue in the new year.

The foundation says it is planning to expand across Africa and is currently in the process of establishing the Rob Youth Foundation Botswana.

The purpose of establishing branches beyond Namibia’s borders is to try and unite the youth so they can work together to address Africa’s youth challenges.
