Fashion and style enthisuasts stepped out to witness yet another edition of MTC’s Windhoek Week Fashion (WFW).
The week ran from 1 to 4 November.
Since its inception in 2016, the event has pioneered the celebration and recognition of not only local designers, but also models, make-up artists, photographers and event collaborators.
This was the eighth edition, and featured local and international designers, local and international brands, models, show producers, make-up artists, stylists, jewellery crafters and fashion enthusiasts.
The annual event started with a fashion pitch night, followed by a jewellery show, and the last two days featuring runway shows with lots of vibrance and stylish clothes.
WFW reprsents Namibia’s evolving cultural identity.
The event showcased the diversity of Namibian fashion designers, alongside their counterparts from Angola, Botswana and South Africa.
More than 30 fashion designers took part in this year’s event.
Brands and designers included Zuriel by Luis Munana, Stitch by Lerato, Alfalfa by South Africa’s Sandile Mlambo, Baccie, Fallone, Andila Andila, House of Poulton, Dzaaam, and Alda Fun in Fashion from Angola.
Musician Lioness showed her clothing line in collaboration with House of Poulton, saying she has always dreamed of doing so.
“I am so happy I did it, and I will do a little more research and spend time around designers and see how it goes,” she said.
Lioness said the House of Poulton collection’s inspiration was Jacaranda trees, which can be seen all over Namibia.
Other themes at the show included gender-based violence and music.
