THE Helao Nafidi Town Council successfully held its cleaning campaign as part of its effort to make the border town an investment destination for investors.
Town Mayor Darius Shaalukeni said that the campaign, which started from the Onhuno T-junction to Ohangwena, Omafo, Engela, and concluded at Oshikango Combined School, was resounding for them as all their stakeholders responded positively.
Shaalukeni explained that the purpose of the cleaning campaign was also to ensure that the town was clean for their visitors and to raise needed awareness among residents to keep the environment clean.
“I believe the state of cleanliness represents the mindset of its inhabitants and creates a safer space for everyone,” he said.
He added that they also promote a concept of cleaning one’s home and surroundings, saying if everyone joins the cleaning initiative, then the whole town will be clean, thereby attracting more visitors for economic benefits.
Shaalukeni then promised to make the event bigger and better next year, with the hope of ensuring that it would be a leading town in the region for being the cleanest town.
