Otjiwarongo Municipality CEO Interview process cancelled

The Otjiwarongo Local Authority Council made a significant decision to cancel the scheduled interview process for the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

This pivotal role has remained vacant following the departure of Moses Matyayi, who transitioned to the City of Windhoek to serve in a similar capacity at the end of July this year.
Nampa compiled this report.

Otjiwarongo Mayor Gottlieb Shivute, in an interview with Nampa, said the decision to cancel the interview process was due to “material omission” detected by the interview panel.

Shivute explained that the decision to cancel that process was taken at a special council meeting on Thursday due to some irregularities detected, and it was decided that a shortlisting committee be appointed to re-evaluate the 47 applications that were submitted for the position by candidates in July this year, where the shortlisting should be made..

He added that the two applicants from the 47 will not be considered because one withdrew by writing to the council while another absconded from the psychometric assessment.

The mayor stated that the re-evaluation part of the recruitment process should be completed by the first week of January next year, to be followed by interviews.

Otjiwarongo Municipality’s Strategic Executive for Community Development Services, Erickson Mwanyekange, is the acting CEO.
