THE headman of Omapumba village, Tatekulu Iiyambo Nghisheekwa, has initiated a new tradition by celebrating the New Year with elders from his village.

A total of 48 elders aged 65 and above were chosen to partake in the New Year celebrations, where they were shown love and care through a well-prepared lunch as part of hosting the elders.

Nghisheekwa plans to make this an annual event for the elders in his community.

He called on all the elders to contribute to positive change in the lives of the youths in the community, aiming to be a generation of hope for the future.

Additionally, Nghisheekwa urged the elders to motivate the youths in their households to work hard, emphasizing the favourable rainfall as a good opportunity to start working on the mahangu field early and prevent hunger.
