NUDO calls for mature discussions around issues facing party

The President of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO) has called for mature discussions around issues facing the party and for unity.

Dr. Utjiua Muinjangue opened the party’s national council meeting in Windhoek on Saturday.

The National Council is NUDO’s second-highest decision-making body, and its meetings seek to iron out challenges facing the Party ahead of the elective congress.

Some of the challenges relate to the process of regulating internal campaigns, reconciliation among traditional chiefs under the Herero Chiefs Council, and party members.

The party president is optimistic that NUDO’s National Council will rise to the occasion, address these issues, and remain united.

As the country gears up for general elections, the NUDO leader called for mature discussions around economic growth, with an emphasis on agriculture and education, among other central issues.

Dr. Muinjangue reminded the rank and file of the Party of the focus of establishing good government and strong institutions in light of the increased pressure the country faces to create efficient markets and attract investments.

She singled out drought and unemployment among the youth as having a serious impact on the livelihoods and concerns of young people leaving the country in search of opportunities elsewhere.

NUDO managed to secure two seats in the National Assembly in the last general elections, while it controls four out of 121 constituencies following the 2020 Regional Council and Local Authority elections.
