RESIDENTS of the northern region continue to honour the memory of President Hage Geingob, who passed away nearly two weeks ago at the Lady Pohamba Private Hospital at the age of 82.

On Wednesday, the residents of Eenhana held a candlelight vigil at the Eenhana Stadium in memory of President Geingob as part of their tribute to his contributions to the liberation of Namibia and his reputation as a people’s person.

Ohangwena Regional Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga hailed President Geingob as a visionary and dedicated leader.

“Let us find solace in the bonds and memories that unite us during these challenging times. Together, we can celebrate his legacy and continue where he left off, inspired by the passion and dedication he brought to every aspect of his life,” he said.

According to Ndeitunga, the Namibian nation will not cease to discuss President Geingob’s great leadership of unity and prosperity for all, nor will they tire of recounting his splendid life of unique achievements that helped liberate and transform the Namibian nation.

President Geingob played an instrumental role in bringing about tremendous positive change for the development of the Namibian house.

Ndeitunga added that President Geingob’s policies and social programs have benefited the majority of the Namibian people, especially the elderly, and have helped to boost the development of socio-economic sectors, including renewable energy.

Furthermore, Ndeitunga indicated that as a result, the gender equality gap in Namibia has significantly reduced, making the country a better place for all to live.

Mourners described Geingob as a man of the people who continued to fight for the betterment of all Namibians.
