THIS Sunday, 18th February 2024, has been declared as a National Day of Prayer in honour of the late President Hage Geingob.

This was announced by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, who revealed that the National Day of Prayer will be led by the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN). She confirmed that this prayer session will take place at the ZCC Church in Windhoek’s Hochland Park from 16:00 to 18:00.

“The daily memorial services in Windhoek will return to the residence of the late President on Monday, 19th February 2024, and on Tuesday, 20th February 2024. On Wednesday, 21st February 2025, the memorial service will take place at the Independence Arena as it is tonight. The Daily Memorial Services will begin from 18:00 to 20:00 as usual,” Theofelus added.

With respect to the regional memorial services, the minister revealed that they will proceed as planned by the offices of the respective Regional Governors in consultation with the central government.

“The remains of the late President will remain in Windhoek. All the memorial services and other activities happening in Windhoek and across the country have been ongoing without the remains of the late President. We, therefore, plead with all citizens and institutions across the country to continue with their remembrance activities of the late President even in the absence of the remains,” Theofelus said.
