FOLLOWING allegations implicating certain members of the Namibian Police Force in corruption and involvement in a plot to plant drugs in a specific car, as well as allegedly intentionally executing five robbers in Okahandja last year, the Namibian police have broken their silence on the matter.

Last year, the police announced that they had killed five men in Okahandja while en route to rob a gambling house. It is alleged that the five men were identified as Erikki ‘Akawa’ Martin, Abed Andreas, Marius Ipinge, Malaika Kotokeni, and Flavianus Endjala.

Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, the chief of the Namibian police, explained that two critical statements pending in the investigation of this case have since been obtained, leaving only one witness statement pending.

He added that additionally, the sixth suspect in the matter was located almost six months after the incident, and his statement was also obtained.

“Thus far, 51 statements under oath were obtained, including fourteen supporting documents. Laboratory results are also finalized. Therefore, in keeping in line with the institutions, systems, and processes governing the discharge of our mandate, the case docket is expected to be submitted to the Prosecutor General during the course of next week, latest on Tuesday, 27 February 2024, for the Prosecutor General’s consideration,” Shikongo said.
