A boy drowns in earth dam after sneaking out of parental home

A CASE of drowning was reported to the police in Ondangwa on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred in Okahongo village in the Uukwiyuushona constituency of the Oshana Region when ten-year-old Junior Penda Sheehama left home without informing his parents and went to join other kids who were pasturing their animals in a nearby oshana.

The deceased, Junior Penda, was left alone at a site near an earth dam when the other kids went to gather their animals to keep them close to their playing site near the dam. However, when they returned, they found the deceased already in the water, struggling to keep afloat before finally disappearing under the water.

The children rushed to alert the deceased’s parents, who, upon arrival, went into the water where they found and retrieved the body. A resuscitation procedure produced no results.
