AN EDUCATION Ministry official, Lucia Kapusa, who is accused of fraud by her ex-boyfriend and the father of one of her children, appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The case was postponed to the 11th of June for the fixing of a trial date.
The complainant in the case, Nelson Antonio, is a UNAM lecturer and a member of the MNC at Medhealth since 2016. He opened a case of fraud against Kapusa last month (Rundu CR 167/03/2024), alleging that the mother of his six-year-old son has over the years used his medical aid on behalf of the minor dependent in a fraudulent manner.
Antonio alleges that he has been receiving reports on his phone, via text messages, of huge amounts of funds being paid to pharmacies, private hospitals, and private medical doctors on behalf of the minor dependent. However, in most cases, the medicines were for adult persons.
He claims that the abuse eventually led him to deregister the specific dependent in October last year, but even after that act, the alleged fraudulent transactions continued.
The accused appeared in court last month after Antonio opened the case, and the case was postponed to the 11th of June.
