THE upcoming Miss Namibia pageant, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, 7-8 July, will be a jam-packed event featuring some of the country’s most talented and beloved musicians, including Script, Adora, Waters, and Arthur Black, among many others.
The Miss Namibia contestants, including both the teen and adult categories, arrived in Swakopmund earlier this week, where the event will take place. The Miss Namibia finalists from various parts of the country wasted no time and are currently busy with rehearsals at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund. Upon their arrival, they enjoyed activities such as baking at the Swakopmund Foodlab, a Catamaran Boat Cruise, lunch at Dockside, and experiencing Eco gliding. Now, they are hard at work perfecting their moves and preparing for the countdown to the crowning ceremony.
Beaulah Beukes, the Public Relations Officer at the NBC, explained that this year’s pageant is different due to the change in ownership and the way entries were received. “The event is going to be one not to miss, with the entries being a true representation of the Namibian people, and the production team behind the scenes going all out to bring Namibia a world-class crowning ceremony! The stage has already been set up, with final touches to be completed today and tomorrow as we prepare to crown Miss Namibia 2023, her runners-up, and Miss Teen Namibia 2023,” Beukes said.
She further stated that the contestants are judged on their interviews, stage presence, advocacies, and their commitment to the Beauty with a Purpose campaign, among other factors.
“The judging panels will be looking for an ambassador for the country who can represent Namibia both nationally and internationally,” Beukes concluded.
