Ghana is gearing up to host a historic event as cricket makes its grand entrance into the African Games. Scheduled to take place from March 7 to March 13, the tournament promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship from across the continent.
Among the teams participating in this landmark event is the Capricorn Eagles from Namibia, who are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to display their brand of cricket on the African stage. Placed in Group A alongside formidable opponents such as South Africa, Tanzania, and Nigeria, the Eagles are poised to compete fiercely for a spot in the final.
Adding to the excitement is the fact that T20 International status has been awarded to the tournament, raising the stakes and offering valuable ranking points to participating teams. Currently ranked 17th in the world, the Capricorn Eagles are determined to make their mark and climb even higher in the rankings.
However, the Eagles will be facing the tournament without their captain, Irene, who will not be part of the tour. Stepping into her shoes is Yasmeen Khan, a seasoned player with ample experience, who will lead the team with confidence and determination in Ghana.
In addition to their seasoned players, the Capricorn Eagles have also bolstered their squad with new talent, further enhancing the depth and strength of their lineup. With a formidable squad comprising players such as Kayleen Green, Arrasta Diergardt, Wilka Mwatile, and others, the Eagles are poised to make a strong impression at the African Games.
