Amushelelo, Nauyoma found not guilty

The activists Michael Amushelelo and Dimbulukeni Nauyoma have been found not guilty on the three charges on which they were prosecuted in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court in Katutura. Magistrate Linus Samunzala pronounced the two men not guilty in a ruling delivered after the state concluded its case in their trial today.

They were charged with counts of public violence, malicious damage to property and incitement of public violence after they organised a public demonstration about unemployment in Namibia on 21 March this year.

Samunzala said in his ruling that on the state’s evidence, Nauyoma and Amushelelo, could not be convicted by a reasonable court.
