THE Ondangwa Town Council has re-elected businessman Paavo Amwele of Swapo as mayor, while fellow Swapo councillor Ester Auala retained her position as deputy mayor of the town.
Julia Kapia (Swapo), Gaus Tshithigona (IPC), and Nicodemus Amadhila (Swapo) were elected as management committee members.
Tshithigona replaced Ericky Angula of the same party, who resigned as a Council Member, leaving a vacant position in the Council this year.
The council has also re-elected Swapo councillor Kapia as the chairperson of the management.
In his acceptance, Amwele said that he is looking forward to continuing working with the residents and to continue their goal of bringing development to the town.
According to Amwele, he will be relying on the support that they give him as well as the support that can be received from the staff members.
“As leaders and councillors, we should always remember that our duties are to give directions to staff members and to encourage them to do their work in a conducive environment,” he said.
He added that they are now employed to work and implement and require support to reach their purpose.
The election was presided over by Magistrate Dominic Lisulo.
