Athletes who have won medals for the country in 2022 and 2023 will soon receive their money as part of the Reward Policy.
This information was confirmed to NBC Sport by Freddy Mwiya, the Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sport Commission.
The country’s Reward Policy for individuals engaged in sports was approved by Cabinet in April 2018.
All athletes who have achieved various accolades up to 2021 were duly rewarded for their exceptional contributions towards the nation.
These rewards were extended to both individual athletes and teams alike.
However, those individuals and teams who have earned medals and brought honour to the country between last year and this year are still awaiting their well-deserved recognition.
Mwiya is of the opinion that the implementation of the Reward Policy will continue to inspire those involved in sport to go extra mile in what they are doing as the money being given can be a game changer in their life.
