A ONE-DAY-OLD baby boy was allegedly found dumped at an old clinic building near Onamahoka Synagogue Elcin under Eenghango Elcin church on Sunday.
NamPol Inspector Raimbert Muronga said that an inquest has been opened into the matter.
“It is alleged that a community member was on her way to the church, and passed by the old clinic building, cleaning her feet,” he said.
He added that while busy cleaning her feet, she heard the voice of a crying baby coming from a corner of the veranda of the clinic building, and that’s when she discovered the newborn baby, wrapped in a black jacket.
It is further alleged that the baby was picked up by the police and a nurse from Ongha Clinic and transferred to Engela Hospital in good health.
Muronga indicated that no footprint was found at the scene as it appeared the baby was dumped there before the rain. The suspect is unknown at this stage.
