BANK Windhoek is offering a N$20 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Nico Hijendepi Rebebe, an employee who disappeared after allegedly stealing an exceptionally large sum from the bank’s Opuwo branch on Saturday.
Rebebe is accused of secretly transferring N$200 million to two different accounts before leaving the bank at around 11:00 and vanishing. While the crime was swiftly detected, the actual damage to the bank was limited to less than N$2 million.
Individuals with information about Rebebe’s whereabouts are urged to contact Deputy Commissioner Iyambo at 081 649 9249, the nearest police station, or Joseph Mafwila of Bank Windhoek at 081 122 2091.
In the meantime, investigators have made progress, resulting in two arrests. Untag Kamati (34) and 19-year-old Fenni Megameno Ankoshi were apprehended and have already appeared in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and theft.
