Following a stellar and busy 2023, comedian, MC and actor Big Mitch recently shared his ambitious creative plans for 2024, providing a glimpse into a year that promises a unique blend of entertainment, cultural exploration and groundbreaking collaborations.
He intends to launch Alien Arts Studios, which he says aims to secure international sponsors for a film script that delves into the colonial times of the Nama and Ovaherero.
“We’ve been working for two years now and we want to tell the world about the capture and detention of our people at Shark Island,” Big Mitch says.
Moreover, Big Mitch is also set to push every conceivable boundary in the comedy sphere, hinting at a shift in style when it comes to his stage performances.
In a departure from local affairs, Big Mitch is also planning to focus on global comedy skits this year, aiming for a more diverse and cinematic feel.
Reflecting on the evolution of his comedy, Big Mitch says he is experimenting with different genres.
“My audience can always get entertained and educated at my shows – that’s the beauty of a Big Mitch comedy show,” he says.
He also told unWrap.online that he has the desire to take the ‘God.Family.Comedy’ special on tour to major towns around the country, while acknowledging the need for corporate sponsorship to pull off this ambitious venture.
“I would like to perform at the Cape Town Theatre by the end of this year. That is the end goal for the year, because you can’t just do comedy for fun anymore. You have to find something you are good at and aim to be the best in the world at it,” he added.
Hinting at a podcast venture that started late last year, Big Mitch anticipates that it will start airing early this year.
This marks a new avenue for the comedian to engage with his audience, offering entertaining conversations that provide a deeper insight into his world.
As Big Mitch embarks on this ambitious journey, 2024 promises to set the stage for a new chapter in the comedian’s vibrant career.
