The Keetmanshoop police are investigating a case of assault after a boy reportedly took his own life on Thursday at the town in the //Kharas region.
The boy has been identified as Christopher Boois (11).
//Kharas regional crime investigations coordinator Nicodemus Mbango on Thursday confirmed the incident.
The police’s indicent report states that Boois and his younger brother went to their school between 08h00 and 09h00 to collect their report cards.
On his way to a classroom, Boois was allegedly confronted by a group of boys wearing masks, who started attacking him.
“His report was torn up, and his T-shirt and jersey were taken from him. The deceased ran home and informed his aunt of the incident,” Mbango said.
The police said Boois and his aunt returned to the school to report the incident to the principal.
However, upon returning home Boois took his life.
“The deceased was taken to hospital and was declared dead on arrival,” Mbango said.
