AFTER learning on Wednesday that he had failed his Grade 11 exam, a 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide.
The deceased, identified as Shatiwa Tuhafeni Nghifilenga, was a learner at Olukolo Secondary School in the Oluno circuit.
Oshikoto Regional Commander Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku said the incident occurred last week Thursday at Onamutayi – Onanke village in the Omuntele Constituency.
According to Kalompo-Nashikaku, the deceased allegedly started feeling sad after receiving his Grade 11 school exam results on Wednesday, as he did not pass.
During the early hours of Thursday, Kalompo-Nashikaku said the deceased was allegedly found hanging from the roof of his bedroom with a rope around his neck by his uncle after he had returned from the local cucashops.
“The uncle managed to cut him off the rope as he was still alive but unconscious and rushed him to Omuthiya district State Hospital,” she said.
She added that the deceased was later transferred to Oshakati Intermediate State Hospital for further treatment, where he died on the same day.
Kalompo-Nashikaku said no suicide note was left behind, and no foul play is being suspected.
