The government of Japan funded the construction of classrooms and a storeroom at the Christoph Ngatjizeko Primary School in the Otjinene Region at a cost of close to N$1 million.
Speaking at the official handover, Japan’s Ambassador Hisao Nishimaki stressed that the new building will positively enhance the conducive learning environment for the learners.
Nishimaki said his government is focused on building classrooms in all regions given the importance of education as a building block for Namibia’s bright future.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Faustina Caley, indicated that concerted efforts are required from stakeholders to complement the investment that the government makes in education.
Omaheke Governor, Pijoo Nganate, emphasised teamwork at the school level in taking ownership of infrastructure.
Christoph Ngatjizeko Primary School has a population of 1,193 learners with 34 teachers.
