CITY IN FLOOD: Some areas in Windhoek are currently flooded after a thunderstorm broke out in the capital city this afternoon. Videos shared with Informanté depict submerged vehicles near the Beethoven apartment complex in Windhoek West. The intense thunderstorm, causing extensive damage within about an hour, has also adversely affected the interiors and exteriors of several buildings. The Central Business District (CBD) was also not spared, as footage reveals the Wernhill Shopping Mall parking lot submerged once again, potentially disrupting Valentine’s Day plans for some residents. This echoes a similar situation in December 2022 when a heavy thunderstorm broke out in the city, leading to the flooding of the shopping centre and significantly impacting Christmas shopping. Windhoek residents, particularly road users, are therefore advised to be cautious. Videos: Contributed
