CHIEF Executive Officer Moses Matyayi emphasized the importance of attitude, behaviour, and dedication in their roles, underscoring the significance of their representation as ambassadors of the city.
Addressing employees during a consultation with the Parks Division on October 19, 2023, Matyayi called upon city staff to evaluate their contributions to the organization and the residents of Windhoek. He stressed that they are the very face of the City of Windhoek and therefore need to uphold ethical standards and exemplify the city’s vision of becoming a compassionate and sustainable metropolis by 2027.
The Parks Division, under the leadership of Uakazuvaka Kazombiaze, shoulders the responsibilities of enhancing the city’s greenery, providing dignified burials and cremations to residents, as well as managing various recreational facilities such as sports complexes, swimming pools, playgrounds, and parks. Its pivotal role in the community makes their commitment to the CEO’s message of utmost importance.
Matyayi challenged his employees to critically assess their work and reflect on the legacy they aspire to leave behind when their time with the City of Windhoek concludes. He emphasized that while Windhoek has undeniably grown and developed over the years, it remains crucial for the municipality to adapt to the evolving needs of a continually expanding population.
According to City of Windhoek, the CEO’s consultation with employees is a component of his comprehensive onboarding program, aimed at familiarizing him with the inner workings of the City of Windhoek. This initiative encompasses visits to all municipal offices, ensuring he gains a comprehensive understanding of the diverse operations that make the city function seamlessly.
Matyayi’s call to action reflects the city’s commitment to fostering a culture of dedication, responsibility, and continuous improvement among its workforce, aligning itself with the ever-changing landscape of Windhoek’s dynamic urban environment.
