TWO suspects, aged 24 and 28, have been apprehended with drugs and tobacco worth over N$3,500 in the Omusati Region.
Omusati NamPol Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, said that the duo was arrested at Omugongo location in the Ogongo settlement on Wednesday.
According to Basson, the suspects face charges of contravention of Section 2 (A) of Act 41/1971, dealing in prohibited dependence-producing drugs, and contravention of Section 16 & 7 R/W Reg. 12 (a-c) of the Tobacco Act, Act 1/2010.
“It is alleged that the 24-year-old male suspect sold illegal drugs to an undercover police officer. He was also found with dagga on his body and illicit tobacco at his room and at the room of his 28-year-old girlfriend during a police search,” he said.
He indicated that they recovered 16 bankies of 23 grams of Skunk worth N$1,150, 61 boxes of Yes Cigarettes worth N$2,440, together with N$112.10 in proceeds, all with a total value of N$3,590.
Basson said that the two suspects are expected to appear before the Outapi Magistrate court this week.
