CoW’s electricity department concludes Its ‘Safe Electricity Use’ campaign

THE City of Windhoek’s Electricity Department has made an official statement regarding the successful completion of its campaign on promoting the safe usage of electricity within local communities.

As per the CoW’s statement, the department is thrilled to announce the tremendous achievement of its recent safety initiative. This campaign focused on educating learners about safe electricity usage, empowering the youth, and encouraging the development of safety-conscious habits.

The CoW reported that the initiative encompassed 75 schools and set off on an extraordinary journey filled with discovery and motivation. A crucial aspect of this undertaking involved implementing engaging essay competitions for high schools and drawing contests for primary schools.


These events fostered a dynamic atmosphere that promoted creativity and the exchange of knowledge among all the participants. Consequently, the students received priceless educational experiences, and the project served as a profound source of inspiration for everyone involved.

The recipients of the high school essay competition awards are as follows: Sarah Catota from Dawid Bezuidenhout High School, Martha Shinana from A. Shipena High School, Rebekka Mwawedange from Mount View High School, and Candy Goses from C.J Brandt High School. In the primary school drawing competition, the gifted winners include: Hosea Shikongo from Bet EL Primary School, Herman Shapange from Herman Gmeiner Primary School, George Mieze from Pioneers Boys Vocational School, and Gabriel Immanuel from Fidel Castro Ruz Primary School.

The Electricity Department extends its congratulations to all the winners and expresses gratitude towards the participating schools and individuals whose contributions made their campaign journey achievable.
