Deep Yellow Limited has revealed in its 2023 sustainability report that is has ploughed in excess of N$167 million into Namibian mining operations.
Of this N$143 million was injected into operating costs, N$16 million into employee and wage benefits while the rest was spent towards government and community payments.
The Sustainability Report covers the period 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
“Deep Yellow is committed to embracing the ESG principles and enhancing the ESG focus across its business while maintaining its main emphasis on productivity, efficiency and shareholder returns. This is the first year of sustainability data collection which provides baseline data aligned with the GRI disclosures. Data collection and reporting will evolve over future years as Deep Yellow’s projects develop, and the Company grows.
The expansion of the Company as it heads into production will also involve strong governance aspects. This will include ensuring that Company Policies and Standards are current and suitable for the stage of development the Company has achieved, maintaining compliance with internal and external requirements. Environmental Management Plans will be implemented, reviewed, and revised as necessary to align with the status of site operations,” said John Borshoff, the Managing Director.
