ANOTHER windy day is predicted for the country, especially in the coastal areas, where dust storms are likely to occur on Wednesday.
This forecast comes from Namibia Meteorological Services, which has identified Walvis Bay as one of the places that will probably experience intense dust storms once again on Wednesday. This coastal town has already been plagued by dust storms throughout the week, significantly reducing road visibility in some areas.
This can be seen in a video captured by Francois Snyders, which depicts the extremely windy and dusty conditions on the road leading to Walvis Bay on Monday. Residents and road users in all coastal towns affected by dust storms, not just Walvis Bay, are therefore advised to exercise caution when using the roads.
The coastal region’s windy conditions will likely be accompanied by mild to warm temperatures. In this context, Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay, and Lüderitz will likely have minimum temperatures ranging between 12°C and 15°C, with maximum temperatures ranging between 25°C and 31°C.
Namibia Meteorological Services explained that Wednesday will likely start with a fresh to strong south-easterly wind before transitioning into a moderate south-westerly wind later in the day. This will not be limited to the coast, although the most intense wind conditions will be experienced in coastal towns.
The interior of the country is also expected to be particularly windy on Wednesday. These windy conditions will be accompanied by hot temperatures in the North, where some places may reach maximum temperatures between 36°C and 37°C on Wednesday.
The rest of the interior can expect sunny and mild to warm conditions on Wednesday, with minimum temperatures expected to be above 8°C in most interior locations and maximum temperatures lower than 35°C.
