EU agrees sanctions framework for key actors in Sudan war

Reuters reports that the European Union ambassadors agreed on a framework of sanctions that will be used to target key actors in Sudan’s war and impose asset freezes and travel bans. War broke out in Sudan in April this year between the army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who ousted longtime autocrat Omar al-Bashir in 2019, and a paramilitary force led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti.
