THE Namibian Police Force in Otjozondjupa is investigating a case of murder after an Angolan man allegedly stabbed his countryman with a knife in Otjiwarongo.

Otjozondjupa Community Policing Sub-division Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha said the incident occurred around 22:00 in the Tsara-xaibes location.

“It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the deceased in the chest with a knife, and the victim succumbed to his injuries. The deceased is an Angolan male, whose age is unknown,” she said.

She added that no arrest has been made yet, as the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Mbeha indicated that a preliminary investigation revealed the suspect is well known, and the search for him is underway.

In a separate incident, an Angolan man was arrested at the Döring Laagte plot in Otjiwarongo on Tuesday after allegedly beating and strangling an unidentified man to death.

“It is alleged that the suspect fought with the deceased after catching him stealing goats from the kraal,” she said.

Mbeha said that the suspect was found at the scene and has been arrested. He is an Angolan national, whose age is currently unknown.

The suspect will appear in court on Friday.
