Men are born to lead; however, the current generation is said to be lacking leadership, a sense of responsibility, and a desire to provide.
These were the sentiments of therapist Ngamane Karuaihe-Upi, speaking at the Men’s Summit in Windhoek.
The summit was attended by 80 men.
Kauraihe-Upi says that gender equality does not mean 50/50 between men and women, as interpreted by some.
He, however, says the phrase “kings matter too” should be exercised with the actions of being a father, a brother, and a provider, and it is about time that men step up to their role in society.
He urged men to start investing in friends who have a positive mindset.
Men are also encouraged to be present and play a father figure in the lives of their children.
The CEO of Debmarine Namibia, Willy Mertens, urges men to invest in families and spend more time with them.
Sports Performance Coach Gregor Areseb advised men to keep fit and healthy to be able to productively contribute to their families.
He says men should join women in exercising, saying a healthy body and mind have the potential to lessen the suicide rate in the country.
