Two foreign nationals were arrested for attempting to bribe an official of NamRA with N$50,000 in Windhoek.
The arrest of the two foreign nationals follows a sting operation by NamRA and the Anti-Corruption Commission.
In a statement, NamRA revealed that a Chinese man and an Angolan woman were arrested at its offices and ACC premises on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
The bribe was intended to influence the release of N$6 million belonging to a trading entity that has been subjected to intervention.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Magistrate’s court in due course.
In a separate incident, a male suspect was also arrested on charges of fraud, tax evasion, racketeering, and money laundering at Walvis Bay.
The alleged contravention involves over N$14.2 million, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
