Sakaria Kandenge, who competed for the presidency of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) against incumbent Panduleni Itula last year, has officially resigned from the party to support independent presidential candidate Ally Angula.
Kandenge, who served as an executive member of the IPC in the //Kharas region, submitted his resignation letter to the party on Friday.
“The reasons for my resignation are to pursue other political ambitions and association as provided for by Article 17 among others of the Namibian Constitution,” Kandenge said in a letter to the party.
Kandenge competed as an IPC presidential candidate in the 2024 national election during the party’s 2022 National Council of Patriots, ultimately losing to Itula.
In a subsequent statement, Kandenge announced plans for the establishment of a new political party called Team Progress Namibia (TPNA), which he says will support Ally Angula as presidential candidate through a coalition.
“The nation can vote for TPNA to go to parliament because we are vibrant, we understand the governance system, unity and national development policies and we are practical, while we urge the nation to vote for Ally Angula for president,” Kandenge said.
