THE Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region has arrested four people, aged 29, 31, 33, and 38, after they were found in possession of 100 bags of maize meal designated for drought relief, each weighing 20 kg, in the area of Oshakati.
Oshana Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said the suspects—three men and one woman—were apprehended around 16:00 at Ehenye in the area of Oshakati East.
The items are valued at N$18,729.30.
According to Ndjadila, they received information from a reliable source, which led to the sting operation during which 100 bags of drought relief aid, weighing 20 kg each, were seized.
“The items were found in one room, confiscated, and then taken to Onawa Police Station for further investigation,” he said.
Ndjadila indicated that the suspects all work for the company entrusted with producing maize meal bags for the drought relief program.
He said that the suspects face charges of being found in possession of suspected stolen property, alternatively theft.
