National Youth Council (NYC) executive chairperson Sharonice Busch has lauded president Hage Geingob for his commitment to youth empowerment, saying he believed young people are Namibia’s “greatest asset”.
“President Geingob worked to ensure that young people participated actively in governance throughout his tenure,” Busch said at a memorial in honour of the late president in Windhoek on Wednesday.
“His unfettered belief in young people was tangible throughout his tenure in office. At the highest level, president Geingob worked to ensure young people participated actively in governance through appointments such as an office that advised him on youth matters,” Busch said.
She mentioned the appointment of Emma Theofelus as then deputy information minister.
Theofelus was last week appointed to the Cabinet as information minister by president Nangolo Mbumba, who was sworn in as head of state after Geingob’s death on 4 February.
