THE new building of Emmaus Kindergarten in Karibib, funded by the German Embassy, has been officially inaugurated.
According to the German Embassy, it supported Emmaus Kindergarten with a grant of N$357,000 last year through its micro-project fund. These funds were used to furnish the school with electrical equipment, mattresses, and furniture, as well as to construct water tanks, a solar power system, and outdoor playing structures.
“The Emmaus Kindergarten, formerly known as Sunshine Kindergarten, had been established in 2002. Since then, the Kindergarten grew and through various fundraising campaigns, the dedicated principal Mrs. Amanda Bluhm was able to acquire a plot and have a building constructed with enough space to welcome more children,” the German Embassy explained.
Dr. Thorsten Hutter, the Ambassador of Germany to Namibia, said that these crucial years of elementary school determine the way children learn and develop mentally and socially.
“The children of Emmaus Kindergarten have ideal prerequisites, as the Kindergarten not only has a dedicated principal, but devoted teachers and support through various partners and the community,” the embassy added.
