THE Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) opened its new office to the public in Outapi, Omusati Region on Monday.

This move was made with the purpose of providing service closer to the people.

GIPF Vice Chairperson, Board of Trustees, Evans Maswahu, said that since the inception of the Fund, they have established deep footprints visible through their 11 regional and four satellite offices spread across all 14 regions. These offices aim to meet the needs and expectations of their members who are not all based in Windhoek but are spread across all corners of the country.

“The addition of a new and permanent office in Outapi is a result of our strategic intent and mandate, which is to provide retirement and ancillary benefits to our members and their beneficiaries. This can only be achieved through regional presence and visibility,” he said.

Maswahu emphasized that GIPF understands its unique position to make a meaningful impact on Namibia and its people. The inauguration of the Outapi office exhibits their dedication to their members.

According to Maswahu, the GIPF Outapi Regional Office is one such investment resulting from their commitment made in 2022, with a total investment for construction amounting to N$6 million.

Moreover, Maswahu indicated that their devotion to member-centricity is evident and deeply rooted in their shared value and outlook for socio-economic impact for the country through their service delivery and investments.

Omusati Governor Erginus Endjala said that it has been the government’s desire to drive rural development through the decentralization policy to enable expansion in all regions of the country.

“As Namibians, we must collectively encourage decentralization so that all Namibians, irrespective of their geographic location, may have access to goods and services to enjoy the fruits of our independence and actively participate in our economy,” he said.

Endjala added that what makes Outapi ideal for decentralization activities is its location on the main road connecting Oshakati and Ruacana, and Outapi to Tsandi and Okahao, serving as the heart of the region.

He further indicated that the growth of the Omusati Region and Outapi is attributed, among other factors, to institutions such as GIPF, which have heeded the call for decentralization and set up offices outside of Windhoek.
